CEM - Frequently Asked Questions
Donations
- Is my donation tax exempt?
- Currently, CEM is not recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization, therefore contributions are not tax exempt. CEM is prayerfully considering the proper time to apply for 501(c)(3) status, and we will update this F.A.Q. when the time comes. Until that time, contributions are considered donations to Chris Eberhardt as an individual (just as if you gave money to a friend).
- Will I receive a record of my contributions each month? At the end of the year?
- CEM endeavors to serve our partners and friends to the best of our ability, and are working hard to set up a database which will allow for contribution reporting. Currently, we do not have this ability but it is a high priority for us. We will definitely have this functioning when donations become tax exempt.
- How is my donation used?
- As stated above, contributions made are currently considered donations to Chris Eberhardt as an individual. However, that does not mean we spend your donations on personal things. Donations to CEM currently go into an account set aside to be used for a number of different ministry purposes. The majority of contributions will be used to continue offering ministry materials free of charge. Other contributions may go to updating assets used for ministry purposes such as computers, software, ect. Lastly, there is currently no established salary for Chris or Sara, so some contributions may go to meeting their natural needs.
- How much of my donation goes to CEM?
- The current option available to CEM for receiving contributions, Paypal, incurs a fee for each contribution. The current fee is 2.2% + $0.30. This means for a $100 donation, a $2.50 fee will be payed to Paypal.
- Do I need a Paypal account in order to give?
- No, Paypal allows you to give to CEM using a major credit or debit card, without the need for a Paypal account.
